The Phoenix girls’ basketball team saw a season of improvement come to an end on Saturday night.
Facing top-ranked Philomath, the Pirates dropped a 66-40 decision in the OSAA 4A State Playoffs at Philomath.
Phoenix (which finished 12-12 on the season) trailed 18-10 midway through the second quarter before the host Warriors put the game away, pushing the lead to 33-14 at halftime.
Delani Parent scored nine points to lead the Pirates, who got five points and four rebounds from Cristal Tellez in her final game. Tellez was the only senior who played for the Pirates on Saturday.
