The Phoenix girls' basketball team continues to show its potential through three-quarters of a game. Putting an entire contest is the next step for the Pirates.
The Pirates were strong through quarters at Klamath Union on Jan. 21 before the host Pelicans pulled away for a 49-40 Skyline Conference win.
PHS trailed 33-28 after three quarters. Strong play from Kynna Nolan, Annabell Delgado and Morgan James kept Phoenix in the game as Nolan scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds, Delgado finished with 13 points and James 10. Kyla Potratz contributed seven rebounds for the Pirates, who were outscored 16-12 in the final frame. Phoenix led Mazama through most of the game a week earlier before fading down the stretch.
The Pirates are 6-9 overall and 0-2 in Skyline play. They will host North Valley on Friday night.
