The Phoenix girls soccer team continues to show that it can compete in the Skyline Conference.
While the Pirates didn't win Monday's Skyline Conference match at Mazama, they gave the host Vikings all they wanted in a 2-1 loss. Liliana Mejia scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute of the match, cutting the Mazama lead in half. The Pirates weren't able to come up a tying goal as they fell to 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the Skyline.
Lupita Alegria anchored the team's defensive effort.
PHS closes the season on Thursday, visiting Klamath Union in a 6:30 pm start in Klamath Falls.
