The Phoenix girls’ soccer team passed a couple of serious tests on Thursday night.
Fresh off a 9-0 home victory over Marshfield, the Pirates went on the road for the first time this season, bringing back a 0-0 tie from Cottage Grove.
Besides turning in a quality performance away from home, Phoenix (1-1-1 on the season) matched the Lions in a physical contest. Marcella Badillo turned back 12 shots in the scoreless contest while Lizbeth Parra, Lupita Allegria and Maggie Carrillo set the pace on the pitch.
PHS returns to action Thursday when it opens Skyline Conference play, hosting Klamath Union at Colver Field.
