Soccer girls hang with HV for most of match

Despite a late-match surge by the home team, the Phoenix girls' soccer team proved it can play with a high-level team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pirates dropped a 5-0 decision to host Hidden Valley in a Skyline Conference match in Murphy. The Mustangs led 2-0 before scoring three times in the final 15 minutes of the contest.

Phoenix dropped to 1-1 in conference play and 2-2-1 overall. Midfielder Lupita Alegria led the Phoenix effort on the day. PHS returns to action Thursday, hosting North Valley in 4:30 pm start at Colver Field.
