The Phoenix girls' soccer team plays in one of the toughest conferences in the state. And it shows!
The Pirates fell to Hidden Valley (ranked first in the state) 3-1 and North Valley (ranked third) 4-0 in the past week. Those setbacks are serving as preparation for PHS, who takes on Henley on Thursday night and Mazama on Monday to close the regular season.
The Pirates are ranked 15th in the state and could host a post-season play-in game by staying ranked within the top 20 in the state.
At home against Hidden Valley the Pirates got a goal from Jackie Rodriguez (assist by Giselle perez-Hernandez) and did a great job of containing the top-ranked Mustangs. In the North Valley match on Monday, PHS had several good looks at the goal but wasn't able to convert.
PHS is 3-4-1 in the conference and 4-5-2 overall.
