Pirates rally for soccer tie

The growth of the Phoenix girls' soccer program was evident on Thursday night.

Trailing by two goals midway through the second half, the Lady Pirates rallied to forge a 2-2 tie in a non-conference match with visiting Eagle Point at P-T Rising Field.

Phoenix (0-2-1 on the season) got a pair of goals from Anahi Carranza-Villa. The junior struck with 16 minutes to play before dropping in a shot over the Eagle Point defense from 35 yards out with less than four minutes to play to tie the contest.

The Pirates return to action Monday when they visit Eagle Point.
