The Phoenix volleyball team wasted little time jumping into the season.
The Pirates have already played four times, including a pair of tournaments and two duals. While only one win has been recorded to date, PHS is showing signs of improvement.
The toughest loss last week was a five-set setback against North Valley. The Pirates led 2-1 before falling in the fourth and fifth sets against the Knights. Phoenix returned to the court at the Basin Best tournament in Klamath Falls on Saturday and notched a win over Bonanza to wrap up bracket play.
Ami Safadee had led the team in hitting for the first week of the season while Mykenna Nolan has served at a 95-percent pace.
The Pirates host a three-team event with Sutherlin and St. Mary's on Tuesday before entertaining Etna, CA on Thursday night.
