A pair of Phoenix High School runners will represent the Pirates at the OSAA State Cross Country Meet on November 4.

Robby Vos won the Skyline Conference championship on Oct. 25 at Valley of the Rogue State Park in Rogue River. The senior cruised to a 42-second victory over the 3.1-mile course, helping his team to a fourth-place finish.

Meanwhile, Lupita Alegria placed fourth to lead the PHS girls, turning in a time of 21 minutes, 54 seconds.

Vos and Alegria will compete in the state meet at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Vos took charge of the race early and never looked back. Other Pirate finishers included Noah Marshall 8th in 18:15, Justin Vermillion 25th in 20:33, Dilan Mathieu 28th in 20:48, Tyler Clark 35th in 24:11 and Brandon Morrison 36th in 24:17.

Alegria and the Pirate girls finished third as a team. Jasper Cortell was 8th in 22:58, Maricela Alvarado 11th in 23;30, Shelby Platt 15th in 23:39, Brooklyn Jenson 21st in 25;32 and Vivian Tauer 23rd in 25:42.
