Pirates strong at King Invite

The Phoenix cross country teams continue to gear toward the Skyline Conference meet.
Wednesday was another example of the Pirates' progress as various runners stepped up at the Max King Invitational at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point.
Kyla Potratz set the pace for the Pirate girls, who finished seventh with 167 points. Potratz finished seventh individually with a time of 19 minutes, 43 seconds. Sophia Stubblefield was 18th in 20:16, Sienna Bauer 48th in 21:48, Heidi Taylor 54th in 22:20 and Lucy Newell 58th in 22:36.
The boys finished ninth as a team, compiling 252 points. Elwood Hosking le the Pirates, placing 33rd in 17:22. Dilan Mathieu was 59th in 18:13, Noah Marshall 66th in 18:30, Blake Breitler 116th in 20:25 and Adriel Gamez 137th in 21:00.
The Pirates return to action on Satuday at the Southern Oregon Invitational in Rogue River.
