Girls earn 7th at State meet

The Phoenix girls' cross country team made its presence known at the OSAA State Championship in EUgene on Saturday.
The Pirates earned a seventh-place team finish, compiling 168 points in the process at Lane Communit College in Eugene.
After placing 18th in the state meet last season, sophomore Sophia Stubblefield earned a seventh-place finish, covering the rolling course in 18:57.30 seconds. Teammate Kyla Potratz completed a strong freshman season by finishing 11h in 19:18.10, a personal best on the season.
Also for Phoenix, Sienna Bauer was 49th in 21:18.10, Heidi Taylor 65th in 22:29.40, Lucy Newell 67th in 22:38.60, Shelby Platt 72nd in 22:54.90 and Clare Mathewson 80th in 24:19.30.
For the Pirate boys, Noah Marshall was the lone competitor, placing 11th in 16:21.60.
