Potratz brings home State title

Kyla Potratz was golden at the OSAA State Cross Country Championships on November 5.
The senior became the school's first-ever female cross country championship, winning the 4A title in convincing fashion at Lane Community College in Eugene. A third-place finisher at state last year, Potratz took charge of the race over the final mile, leaving a trio of LaGrande runners in her wake. She finished the course in 18 minutes, 47.5 seconds, more than 27 seconds faster than runner-up Cecilia Villagomez.
Freshman Nathen Hammond made his debut at the state meet, finishing 33rd in 18:01.3
