Pirate swimmers solid at Medford meet

Phoenix finished third for the boys and fifth for the girls in the North Medford Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Alec Shepherd won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events to lead the PHS boys, who totalled 140 team points. Ford Fogleman added a sixth in the 200 while the 400 freestyle relay team of Fogleman, Bailey Olson, Trevor Welch and Devin Wenaus finished third.
The PHS girls compiled 109 points. Ruby Moser finished second in the 500 freestyle and Pearl Ward added a fifth-place finish in the 50 free. The 400 relay team of Kelly MacLeod, Kaia Eikenberry, Kazes Kuykendall and Moser were fifth.
Phoenix returns to action on Friday when it will take part in the Newport Invitational.
