The Phoenix High School swim team made its traditional journey to Newport on December 12 to compete with teams from Northwest Oregon.
“It was AWESOME to swim in the new 8 lane Newport Aquatic Center Pool which made us wish once again we could get that kind of support for aquatics in our valley,” PHS coach Jim Heath said. “Despite some illness and a few missing teammates the majority of our team still generated some new PR’s and gained experience to use going forward as the boys placed seventh and the girls placed 10th."
Top 12 finishers scoring for the Pirates were Trevor Welch (200 free), Pearl Ward (50 free), Ruby Moser (500 free), Alec Shepherd (50 free & 100 breast), and Kelly MacLeod (100 breast).
