Now that the entire team is together, swimmers from Phoenix High School are hitting their stride.
A truncated season that crossed over with the end of spring sports has brought some challenges for PHS, which took part in an unscored meet at Mingus Pool in Coos Bay on Friday afternoon.
Senior Tyler Clark had a strong meet, winning the 50-yard freestle (26.79 seconds) while finishing third in 100 free (1:00.22). Classmate Nate Wood was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.67) and third in the 100 freestyle (1:04.27). Elwood Hosking was fourth (27.86) and Zyan Shull-Bain fifth (27.86 in the 50 freestyle. PHS finished second in a pair of boys' relay events.
Heidi Taylor set the pace for the Phoenix girls, finishing second in the 100 butterfly (1:17.22) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:56.05). Rose Moser added a ffith in the 50 freetyle (32.70).
