The Phoenix track and field teams closed the season with two solid days at the OSAA State Meet in Eugene.
Competing at Hawyard Field, a variety of Pirates made their way to the 4A awards stand on May 26-27.
Senior Kyla Potratz closed her memorable PHS career with a fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter run and a fifth in the 1500. Potratz caught LaGrande freshman Brooke Perry in Friday's 3000 before Perry pulled away for the victory, which she repeated on Saturday in the 1500.
Also placing for Phoenix was Citlali Ramos. The senior cleared 8-feet-0 in the pole vault, good for sixth place. Sophomore Brayden Decker was the top finisher among Pirate boys. Decker followed up his championship in the Skyline Conference meet a week earlier by clearing six feet in the high jump, good for fifth place.
Kael Feeley, a junior, was seventh in the 1500 on Saturday after finishing 10th in the 3000 on Friday. Freshman Elijah Palmer made the podium, placing eighth in the javelin.
As a team, the girls were 21st with 13 points while the boys placed 24th as a team, earning seven points in the meet. Philomath (girls) and Marshfield (boys) were the team champions.
