Pirate fortunes promising on the mat

Marcelo Camargo picked up where he left off during the cross country season.
The Phoenix junior won a pair of matches by pin in a three-team event at Ashland HIgh School on January 5 before finishing second in the 170-pound division at the Eagle Point Invitational on January 8.
Wednesday, the Pirates rallied for a 30-26 win over Ashland. Erik Reyes, Eric Peltier, Camargo and Joey Baynard were all winners by pin against the Grizzlies as Phoenix rallied from an early deficit in the dual. The Pirates also squared off with South Medford, dropping a 60-18 decision to the Panthers. Camargo and Baynard both won by pin.
Cason Masone and Emery Tiesi both picked up impressive JV wins against Ashland. Baynard added a fourth-place finish at 220 at Eagle Point.
"As we continue to train and grow we are incredibly excited about the possibilities from Phoenix Wrestling," PHS Coach Kody Lindsey said.
The Pirates host North Valley and HIdden Valley on Wednesday night before heading to the Oregon Classic in Redmond this weekend.
