The Phoenix girls' cross country team continued its strong start to the season, finishing second in the Brookings Invitational on Saturday.
The Pirates were only one point from a team title, compiling 28 points compared to 27 for Arcata, CA.
Lupita Alegria set the pace, finishing second in 21:05. Sophia Stubblefield was third in 21:27, Lucy Newell 12th in 24:26 and Shelby Platt 13th in 25:17.
The Phoenix varsity boys placed fourth as a team with 102 points. Noah Marshall placed fifth in 17:27.84 to lead the Pirates. Dilan Mathieau was 15th in 19:35.
Phoenix returns to action Wednesday when it will take part in the Skyline Pre-District Meet at Steens Sports Park in Klamath Falls.
