With the OSAA offering girls' wrestling as a sanctioned sport for the first time, Emma Truex made certain to bring home gold again.

After winning a pair of titles at the state level prior to the sanctioning of the meet, the Phoenix High School junior rolled through the 125-pound bracket to claim honors. Truex scored a second-period pin in the semifinals before rolling past Emily Sullenger of Hood River Valley 11-3 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Saturday night. Truex was 10-0 against female opponents on the season.

Earlier in the day, her counterparts on the boys' team wrapped up a solid run, finishing eighth in the team standings. Ezra DeLuca (113 pounds) and Elijah Santana (160) both finished fourth while Jacky Hawkins (138) and Dane Johnson (170) both concluded their PHS careers by finishing fifth. All four place-winners are seniors. DeLuca finished the season 35-5, Santana 29-5, Hawkins 37-9 and Johnson 26-17.

As a team, Phoenix earned 69 points in the two-day meet, good for eighth place
