Pirate Lose: 0.00 - 1.00
A season of challenges continued for the Phoenix Boys' Soccer team on Monday night.
The Pirates, who have suffered a variety of late-match defeats, were stung again when visiting Hidden Valley scored a goal with less than two minutes to play in a 1-0 final in Skyline Conference play at Phoenix.
Phoenix is 3-3-1 in conference play and 4-7-1 overall. The Pirates close the regular season at conference leader Henley on Monday night. PHS already owns a win over the Hornets this season and also defeated Henley in the state semifinals last fall.
Ranked 19th in the state, Phoenix is hoping to return to the post-season, which opens with a play-in round on October 21.

Pirate Win: 2.00 - 1.00
After a couple of frustrating losses, the Phoenix boys' soccer team earned a major victory on Thursday night as the Pirates downed Henley 2-1 in a Skyline Conference match at P-T Rising Field.
Senior Tanner Norris scored both Phoenix goals, including the game-winner in the 67th minute. Norris opened the scoring in the first half when he found the neet off a cross from Dominic Gutierrez. Henley countered with a goal a few minutes later, tying the score at 1-1 before Norris' winning goal.
Phoenix improved to 2-2 midway through the conference season and moved up to 19th in the OSAA rankings. The Pirates return to action Monday when they host Mazama. Kickoff is set for 6 pm at P-T Rising Field.
6-0 win to open Skyline season

Pirate Win: 6.00 - 0.00
The Phoenix boys' soccer team picked the right time to get things rolling.
The Pirates opened Skyline Conference play on September 21, blanking host Mazama 6-0 in Klamath Falls.
Phoenix opened a 5-0 lead in the first half. Dominic McGuire scored three of his four goals and assisted on one to Hector Ramos. Antonio Camargo also had an assist, setting up Ramos for a goal in the 14th minutes. McGuire scored his first-half hat trick over a 12-minute stretch.
Senior Tanner Norris scored the lone second-half goal for the Pirates, with classmate Alex Garcia picking up the assist.
Phoenix improved to 2-4 overall. The Pirates return to action Monday when they host Klamath Union. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm at Phoenix High School.

Pirate Lose: 1.00 - 3.00
A two-day trip to Portland included the first win of the season for the Phoenix boys' soccer team.
Last year's state runner-up in the 4A classification, the Pirates are taking on a rugged pre-season schedule to prepare for a run at the Skyline Conference championship. Three of their first four opponents have been 5A schools with another on the way Thursday when Crater visits Phoenix.
Phoenix downed Hillsboro 1-0 on Saturday in the Portland area. Playing on short rest, the Pirates got the lone goal of the match from Antonio Camargo in the first half. Dominic Gutierrez hustled to set the stage for an assist by Cielo Marlia-Larsen to Camargo.for the goal.
The Pirates opened the road trip to a 2-1 loss a perennial 3A state power Catlin-Gabel. Victor Peral found the net off a pile-up around the goal for the PHS score.
Phoenix was back on the field Tuesday night, visiting rival Ashland in a non-league friendly. The host Grizzlies opened a 2-0 lead in the first half on the way to a 3-1 win. Hector Ramos-Peral netted the Phoenix goal while defenders Dominic Crenshaw and Juan Vargas played a solid match on the backline. David Reyes turned back seven shots in goal.

Pirate Lose: 1.00 - 2.00
The process is finally underway for the Phoenix boys' soccer team.
Last year's state Class 4A runners-up, the Pirates opened the season with a 2-1 non-conference loss at Eagle Point on Tuesday night. The host Eagle scored a pair of first-half goals before holding off surging Phoenix in the second half. The Pirates got on the board when Tanner Norris found the net in the 65th minute off a cross from Cielo Marlia-Larsen. Phoenix also scored in the first half on free kick by Ethan Martinez but the goal was disallowed due to a technicality.
The Pirates return to action this weekend when they head to Portland for a pair of matches, taking on 3A power Catlin Gabel on Friday before heading to 5A Hillsboro on Saturday.
