The Phoenix girls' soccer team continued its rise through the state rankings on Thursday.
Ranked 10th in the state to start the day, the Pirates climbed to seventh with a convincing 3-1 win over visiting Cottage Grove in a non-conference friendly at Colver Field in Talent.
Sofia Rodriguez, Makenzie Christenson and Hailey Lustig scored the Pirate goals. Phoenix, which improved to 2-0-1 on the season, got another solid effort in goal by Emma Truex.
The Pirates return to action Thursday when they open Skyline Conference play at Klamath Union.
